History of the Company

Mackay Engineering and Surveying Company (formerly Slabe & Mackay) is a Civil Engineering and Land Surveying firm located in Northeastern Ohio. We have been serving the Northeastern Ohio counties of Ashtabula, Cuyahoga, Stark, Huron, Erie, Geauga, Lake, Lorain, Medina, Portage and Summit for over 50 years.

Richard R. Mackay, PE, PS

(1925-2007)

Richard Mackay, Founder, received a Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering from Fenn College (now Cleveland State University) in 1957. Richard was a Professional Engineer and Registered Surveyor in Ohio and Florida. Richard Mackay served as consulting engineer to many cities and agencies in Northeast Ohio. Richard Mackay was the former City Engineer for the Cities of Seven Hills, Independence, Middleburg Heights, and Fairview Park.

Michael Mackay, President, received a Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Notre Dame in 1974 and a Juris Doctor Degree from Cleveland Marshall College of Law in 1977. Michael is a Professional Engineer, Registered Surveyor and a member of the Ohio Bar. Michael is experienced in all facets of land development, municipal engineering, ALTA/ACSM Surveys and contract administration. Michael is a construction arbitrator for the American Arbitration Association and currently the City Engineer for the City of Rocky River, Middleburg Heights and Fairview Park.
